2026 ‘Holocaust and Genocide: The Importance of Hope and Resistance’
All Writing Entries are due by January 23rd, 2026
Entry Instructions:
- Complete the entry form.
- Electronic submission is required unless accommodation is requested.
- If you have questions or need an accommodation, please contact Administrator Laura Ralph at AkronSummitHolocaustEducation@gmail.com or call 243-200-6241. All accommodations must be approved prior to contest entry deadline.
Writing Requirements:
- Choose to write fiction or nonfiction.
- Choose your sources. Do you want to use a history book, a biography, an interview, a museum, an article? Reliable sources can be found in the “Resource List” at https://akronsummitholocausteducation.org
- Use your research to develop your writing around the theme “Holocaust and Genocide: The Importance of Hope and Resistance” Any plagiarized or Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated entries will be immediately disqualified.
- Limit the writing to less than 1,000 words.
- Create a “Works Cited” page that includes ALL your sources both cited and inspirational. All copyright protected sources used must be cited! Ask your teacher or a trusted adult for help with this if you need it. You do not need to follow any specific format and the “Works Cited” page is not included in word count.
- The following instruction are only for non-electronic entries. Use 12-point font, double spaced and page numbers. Create a cover page with the title and the word count and include the title on every page.
- Look over your work one last time and submit your final draft with the entry form!
